I love fabric Yo-Yos

I absolutely love fabric yoyos. In case you are not sure what they are, yo-yo is a little circle of fabric that was traditionally used in quilting and patchwork projects.

Yo-Yos are supposedly easy to make. They are circles of fabric, around the edge of which a line of running stitch is made with a sturdy thread, and this is gently gathered, bringing the edges into the center and forming a ‘puff’.

I, however, can not make Yo-Yos to save my life and I know they are NOT easy to make. I have tried to make them by hand and I have also tried to make them using machines. None of my methods ever work and I just get frustrated.

So, I bought these Yo-Yos from Donna at YoYoCottage. They are absolutely gorgeous and come in many different sizes and colors.

I might have to carry them with me in my purse for a while and play with them.

Turn Sweatshirts into Jackets

Was surfing the web too early this morning and found some great sweatshirt design ideas by Nancy at Nancy's Notions, http://tiny.cc/9tJ9V

Her designs are just so classic. I love the way the collar on the blue sweatshirt is ruffled.

If you have any sweatshirt design questions, please let me know. I would love to help.

Hot Iron Transfers

Yesterday I went to Joann's Fabric store and was browsing around, not looking for anything in particular.

I found these Aunt Martha's Hot Iron Transfers. I remember these from when I was little (too long ago).

My mother used to iron these transfers onto pillowcases for me, and then I would just sit for hours and embroider the designs. They were the start of a lifetime of crafting and part of my life I couldn't live without.

Mermaid Sweater Jacket

When I was younger I wanted to be a marine biologist so I have always had a soft spot in my heart for fish designs.

I found this cute fish design at Proffitts Hollow Creations.

I love the way the fish look like they are swimming into the pockets. Too cute.

What design would you like to see on a jacket?

Whistlepig Creek Productions Web Site

I went to Joann's Fabric store the other day and found just the cutest sweatshirt pattern. It is called "Fat Cats" and it is produced by Whistlepig Creek Productions.

What I loved about this pattern is not only the very cute cats, but the jacket button tabs on the front of the sweatshirt.

It is a different design and add just a unique touch to this whimsical shirt.

If you have any questions or suggestions about SweatShirts, please let me know. I would love to help you.
